I suppose it was destined to happen.
As noted by anyone else who keeps a blog, Moveable Type has gotten very expensive all of a sudden. The free version will still be available but with limited functions. That craps me off. I’ve just gotten WordPress up and running in this directory. It’ll take a fair bit of fiddling to get used to the new system, but I must move on. I’ve given myself 3 months change over to WordPress.
the version of MT you currently have will keep working (won’t it?). you just won’t be able to get updates. if you’re happy with it currently there’s no problem. heh, i’ve been using the same b2 version for ever and never needed or wanted an updated version. of course, i can’t actually get an upated version because it’s no longer in development.
Sure. The version of MT that I use right now is excellent. The only thing that concerns me is that future plug-ins might only work with ‘paid’ versions etc. WordPress is virtually guaranteed to stay free and I feel that there’s a move towards it. The more people that use it, the more developers will write cool hacks for it.
You might want to have a look at this, if you haven’t already…
