All this ‘root moveable type’ stuff has confused me no end. I’m no whizz as far as all this database, php, sql stuff goes. That makes it hard for me to swap an entire blog over to another content management system. I have WordPress on the go. I like it. I also got my inquisitive fingers on ExpressionEngine. It looks very handy as well.
For the time being I’m going to keep whacking away on the keyboard with my current MT setup and explore my two other options. Maybe I’m the type of person that SixApart hope to cash in on. That is, someone who has become loyal because they know no other way of putting together a blog. Loyal isn’t the correct word, maybe reliant.
Much like me, they are in business and can’t be expected to offer a good product for nothing. Goodwill don’t pay the bills! It’s their call and it’s got to be said that Moveable Type is a very well developed blogging tool. However, if there’s a cheaper (or better still, free) option out there for educated customers, it’s only natural that people will flow the way of a cheaper product. WordPress is two lengths clear in the race for my reliance.
