The most important sporting event in the world is about to begin for the 111th time. That’s right. The AFL season.
My prediction for the round 22 ladder is as follows:

- Sydney
- Fremantle
- St. Kilda
- Hawthorn
- Melbourne
- Geelong
- Carlton
- Richmond
- Port Adelaide
- Adelaide
- West Coast
- Collingwood
- Kangaroos
- Brisbane
- Essendon
Published.
Recently my lovely wife had a story published in The Age. It was published in the Education lift-out a few weeks ago. If you’re interested in reading about why some teachers leave their profession after a few short years then you might find her article insightful (Classroom burnout triggers teacher opt-out).
It wasn’t me - it was the elephant.
“The real history of the world is a history of competing conspiracies.” That’s what some bloke said. I know not the context in which the quote was made, but I just love it.
My mother also had a saying. “Conspiracies are bull-shit. The simplest explanation is almost always the correct one.”
I always keep those two statements in mind when I read anything in any form of media that treats speculation as evidence.
I’m over .05 now so I’m pulling over before I drive this PC into a ditch on the information superhighway…
Roadtrip.
One of my favourite blogs as an everyday read is bluishorange, by Alison from Houston, Texas.
Alison has embarked on a roadtrip recently and is blogging and taking photos along the way. Be sure to take a look at what she’s up to. It should be interesting.
In the time that Alison crosses North America I will probably have the time to get home from work. The best thing about Brisbane at the moment is seeing the reaction of locals to the incredible population/commuter growth occurring right now. Local press is full of people whining about full train carriages, packed buses and jammed roads. Heh.
I bet that the Brisbane City Council wishes it never ripped up the city’s tram tracks in 1969. Forward thinking at its finest.
What’s this thing?
Oh! It’s a blog apparently.
The last month or twelve have been busy and this little piece of the internet is testament to that. My little side project is doing well and so is my day job. The only thing that isn’t going well, it seems, is quality time with the my better half, my friends and myself.
The good old work/life balance thing, y’know. So that’s why we had last Friday off and headed down to Byron Bay. There’s no school holidays anywhere in Australia at the moment so Byron was quieter than normal. Present were the same old buskers, beggars, drunks and derelicts - missing were the hoards of BMWs, Mercs and the high life generally contained within.
So it was sun, surf, swimming, long dawn walks to the lighthouse and a slab of Tuborg that have made me feel complete at the end of this weekend. Yay.
